After years of anxiety and walking through the worst depression, I knew it was time for help. God had opened up the idea of therapy in different ways and placed it on my heart but finances were not an option. I had been given one month worth of free therapy at a previous job but could not continue after that due to not having insurance or the finances to look into it. Being a single mom getting back on my feet felt like the biggest hindrance amongst not feeling like anyone would understand me. So I gave up.

Then I found Better and was able to receive funding for 12 sessions of therapy which gave me hope.

Growing up black therapy wasn’t an option. It seemed scary and too vulnerable. Like a crazy way to let people know my business for me to be the same… But honestly I’m lighter, better, and at ease when my heart is being healed.Going consistently has given me the space to be okay with life and my circumstances, to communicate more effectively, and to overall lean into a better me. I'm a better mom and a better human to others.
